It is hardly necessary to inform our readers that the appearance here of this great company forms an epoch in the history of local amusements. Sixty performers including an orchestra often, and complete wardrobe, scenery and effects for 18 operas— such is the strength of the juvenile opera. During the last three years this organization has toured New Zealand not less than four times, and always with great success both ar. tiatically aud financially. The opera chosen for representation hero is acknowleged as being the best in the extensive repertoire of the company. Gilbert and Sullivan's masterpiece, the most tuneful work of the century " the Gondoliers " or " The King of Barataria." This is the most popular of these clever gentlemen's works, the plot is purely Gilbertian, the dialogue bright a.nd witty while the music is of such a catchy nature that it is to be heard in every drawing roqm, and is whistled by the small boy in the street, The critics in the large oities were singularly unanimous in stating that the juveniles gave the best all round performance of this opera yet seen in the colonies. The prices are fixed at 4s, 8s and 2s, and seats can be reserved at Mr Carthew's.
