The Council met at 2 30 p.m. The School Attendance Bill passed < ts final stages. 1 The RRting Bill was committed, and ' eported without material amendment. The debate on the second reading of he Rating on Unimproved Value Bill, o which a hostile amendment had been noved, was resumed. The Hons. Messrs Kelly, Bolt, EVhitmore, and Rerr, spoke in support >f the Bill, and the Hons. Stevens, Williams, Oliver, and Reynolds, igainst it. The debate was farther adjourned ill Monday at 2.30 p.m. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. The House met at 2.30 In reply to a question Mr Seddon laid he hoped to be able to announce ihe appointment of the President and ;he Auditor of the Bank of New Zealand within a week. The greater part of the afternoon was spent in discussing sending a delegate to England in connection with the Taranaki Iron Industry, Mr E. M. Smith having moved the adournment of the House. The House resnrued at 7.30, Tho New Zealand Consols Bill was reported from Committee and after after a short debate was read a third time by 31 to 22 and passed. After several members had spoken on the motion for the committal of the Native Land Court Bill the debate was adjourned till Monday. The House rose at 12 45.
