Mr Byron de Winton.

Last evening Mr Byron de Winton addressed a fairly good audience in the Assembly Booms, his object being to advertise the herbal remedies which he, as a botanist who is thoroughly conversant with the profession he follows, prepares. He proved himself, in this his introductory address, to be a speaker whose power of holding the attention of the audience is very great. He is a man of extensive travel, has a pleasing style of delivery, and is unquestionably a speaker whose find of information is worth going to hear, all the lectures not being devoted merely to advertising his | remedies, but to a great extent being on political, social, and religious topics. This evening the lecture will commence at nine o'clock, as the volunteers will be drilling in the hall up to that time, and on Friday evening he will lecture in the Square, as the hall is also engaged for \ that night. On Sunday afternoon and evening he will preach in the Assembly Booms. On Sunday evening he will commence his address at 8.15, after the Church services are over, as he does not wish to enter into conflict with religions bodies, for whom he has every respect. Last evening Mr de Winton expressed a wish to see a larger number of ladies at his future addresses.
