Basolutiona were carried to the following effeot :— l. That as a necessary complement to primary instruction in pubUc, edbools provision should be made for special instruction in the chief occupations of life, and it is eminently desirable to take immediate steps to provide practical instructions for girls in suoh subjects as household management, plain cooking and laundry work 1 ; 2. I hat the proposei scheme be under the control of subscribers of not lees than 10s per annum. That application be addressed to GoVernment begging a grant in aid "from the public funds equal in amount to" a sum raised in any one year from prirate subscriptions and fees, and praying that in addition a sum of JElSO^be included in the Estimates for the current year and placed, to the credit of the committee to assist in meeting the unavoidable expenses in starting the school. A committee of management was appointed.
