Feilding S.M. Court.

Thursday, September 20th. (Before Mr Brabant, S.M.) R. K. Blundell, Sheep Inspector, charged T. E. Bennett with having exposed sheep affected with lice for sale in a public yard. Convicted and fined 20s, with costs 7s. W. F. Elkington v. Bridget Millard; claim, £22 103. Mr Richmond for the plaintiff, and Mr Prior for defendant. Judgment by consent for £21, with costs 295, solicitors' fee £1 11s. Fred Noffke v. Herman Behrent ; claim, £5 0s Gd. Mr Sandilands for the plaintiff, and Mr Prior for defendant. This was a case in which the amount was admitted, but defendant alleged be did not know to whom he had to pay the amount, which was for rent which the mortgagee instructed defendant not to pay plaintiff, but to pay him (the mortgagee). Plaintiff and defendant having given evidence, His Worship said the plaintiff was a landlord, and he did not think the notice would bind defendant to pay anybody. Judgment for the amount claimed, with costs 16s, solicitors' fee £1 6s.
