The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, under data London, August 10th, report on the frozen meat market as under : — Fresh arrivals of New Zealand mutton have aggregated about 125,000 carcases, and owing to the congested state of the stores the discharge of vessels has continued to be very seriously delayed and the Elderslie and Duke of Westminster have been utilised aa store ships. In consequence of the heavy supplies and She lack of storage accommodation sales of New Zealand mutton have been somewhat unduly pressed, and prices show a marked decline on those quoted a month ago. The demapd has pot been stimulated by the lower prices, and latterly it hae been adversely affected by the incidence of the holiday season. Prime Canterbury has on one or two occa sions shown a firmer tendency, but lines have been offered at as low as 3£d per lb, while average, and more especially inferior grades, have suffered severely from the low value and comparatively good quality of the Australian and River Plate mutton marketed.
