At the inquest on the body of Debowars the seaman of the s.s. Glenelg, a verdict o- accidental death waa returned. Mr Northcroft, S.M.. gave a woman six months' bard labor for obncene language The steamer TJpolu has sailed for Sydney. She is to run between that port and Samoa, the Union Company havinc determined to inaugurate with her a monthly seryice between these places. The Mararoa, Rototnabana and Tasmania leaye for Sydney crowded with passengers, a large number being from Auckland Christchurch, Sept. 17. J. J. Swinnerton, an old Auckland resident, dropped dead at theAddington Cemetery to-day- He has been suffering for 20 years from heart disease. W T alter Deßirch was committed for trial this morning on a charge of obtaining £7 4s from M. E. Porter and Co , Wellington, by false pretences.
