Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co. report on their Johnsonville sale : — With the exception of a few pens all the cattle were of an indifferent quality, some very plain. We sold all out at fully equal to 20s, some smaller bullocks making quite 22s per lOOlbs. About 500 sheep made up the sale. They sold at prices slightly better than last sales rato. Figs were in full supply and made last sales prices. We quote: Cattle — Best bullocks, £8 to £10; others, £7 5s to £7 17s 6d. ; Sheep — Best wethers, 18s sd ; light ; wethers, 15s 9d ; small wethers, 12s : 3d; ewes, 13s 6d. Pigs — Baconers, , 29s to 40s; porkers, 15s 6d to 225; stores, 10s to 14s. i Messrs Gorton and Son report : — At the sale of Mr W. Reid's cows at ' Makino siding, last Wednesday, we ' sold twenty under the hammer at very fair prices, ranging from £4 10s to £9. They were good cows, but, owing to shortness of feed, they were in low condition. At Bulls on the 11th we held a very brisk sale. The attendance was good, bidding spirited, and most of the lots were in consequence sold under the hammer, leaving little to bo sold after the sale which lately has ' been the chief business of the auction- < eer. The prices realised were satis- ' factory. Quotations : Cattle — Fat ' cows, £5 10s 6d to £6 12s; fat < heifers, £G lls 6d ; 2^-year steers, £4 ( Is; 2^-yeaf neifers, £3 15s; 18-month j heifers, £2 19s ; yearlings, mixed, £2 3s to £2 10s ; weaners 26s to 335 ; ' milkers, £5 ; cows in low condition, 1 £2 4s 6d. Sheep— Hoggets, various ' prices, 3s 9d to 10s 3d ; fat sheep, 9s ( 6d; empty ewes, 6s 6d. !
