The accident is attributed to variation and the effect of a current of abnormal force, the course of which is indicated on the charts. The Ringarooma was steaming nine Knots af fh<3 timp. The vessel js jjpw standing ahioalr on end, and is dry up to the foreward funnel at low water. The outer bottom has gone, but the inner one is still intact. She has been lightened by jettisoning 800 tons of coal. The officers had succeeded in shifting the ship six feet by wedging when the Dart left the scene. Tne wind was in a favorable quarter. If the inner bottom holds, and the weather keeps fine, she may be floated off, as the reef is believed to be soft. Previous to the disaster, fftree of ftie giw pawned whjje bathing. '„': '} *" 1 '
