St. John's Pantomime Company. .

On Tuesday next, September llth, - St. John's Pantomime Company will appear at the Assembly Booms in the pantomime, " Sinbad the Sailor." Thecompany includes some exceptionally - clever performers, Miss Florrie Bt. Clair, Miss Ada Lempriere, Miss Bel Ponaonby, Mr T. C. Cailaghan, Mr J. S. Parlatto, Mr Jake Friedman, Mr . P. St. John, aud the Connor Brothers. There are 20 performers, the scenery ' is decribed as first-class, and the staging of the different piece* in the company's repertoire is reported to be exceedingly fine. In a lengthy notice of one of the company's performances, . the Wanganui Herald says :— The usual accessories necessary for making up a good stage effect were apparent, and the costuming, scenery, etc., excellent. One of the prettiest items Qf the kind seen on the local boards was. the butterfly dance, its novelty and * the grace with which it was executed leading to genuine marks of satisfacfaction and approval, and needless to say a repetition was clamoured for. - Those wonderful acrobats — the Connor Brothers — went through some marvellous feats in the way of tumbling, etc., and were greeted with the heartiest of applause, The comic harlequinade proved very laughable and made a good fitiata Taken aU together the performance was moat enjoyable— there being not one dull moment in it— and the Company are to be complimented on their success.
