THIS DAY. (Before Major Tuke, S.M.) T. H. Whishaw (dog tax collector for the Manchester Road Board) charged J. Patton, W. L. Harper, J. Lawrence, A. Whibley, and J. H. Coom, with keeping unregistered dogs. Fined 5s in each case, with costs 7s. J. H. Blackmore (dog tax collector for ' the Feilding Borough) changed R. Parr, juur., with keeping an unregistered dog. \ Fined 5s and costs. Mr Prior appeared for the collector. ; T. H. Whishaw (dog tax collector for ' Kiwitea County Council) v. K. McKenzie. This was a case iv which plaintiff sued ■ for 7s 6d, he having by error registered L four dogs in place of three. Defendant ' did not appear and judgment was given ' for amount claimed, with costs 9s. 1 E. Floreuco Crawford v. Chas. Clayton ; claim, .£5 3s 9. Mr Reade for } plaintiff. Judgment for plaintiff with r costs 20s, solicitor's fee 15s 6d. , Davy and Mills v. W. H. Maitlaud ; • claim, 19s 6d. Mr Reade for plaintiffs. t Judgnieut by consent, with costs ss. Berry and Trevena v. D. Sanson ; claim £1. Mr Reade, for plaintiffw, applied for recovery of costs of a summons ' issued, amount of which was paid. Judgment for costs 9s. » R. Soinerville v. D. Sanson ; claim ' 15s. Mr Reade for plaintiff. In this » case plaintiff claimed for the recovery of ! costs 9s, the amount having been paid. Judgment for amount claimed. t J. Thompson v. E. HatfieW. Mr • Prior, for defendant, applied for a rei hearing of this case, which was heard j last court day. Mr Sandilands for • plaintiff. E. Hatfieid deposed that it was through his mistaking the day that he did not attend at last court day, when judgment was given against him 3 by default. The re-hearing was granted , and tho amount, AlB 16s sd, was paid I iuto court. 3 T. H. Whishaw (dog tax collector for \ Manchester Road Board) charged G. D. Alfred with keeping a dog in his possession and, as defendant was not a ' farmer or drover, plaintiff considered he ' had a right to charge the full amount, 1 10s. Defendant pleaded that he was ' away from home at the time and was 3 willing to pay 2s 6d. Judgment for ' 2s 6d, without costs. • Same v. M. Hinnigan. This was also a case for recovery of dog tax for two ; dogs. Defendant posted a postal note i some days after receiving notice, but r plaintiff did not receive it. Judgment 7 for 2s 6d ; also fined ss, and costs 7s. J. H. Blackmore (dog tax collector 7 Feilding Borough) v. D. Black. Mr r Prior for plaintiff. Defendant was charged with keeping an unregistered i dog. Judgment for plaintiff, with fine • ss. J. Sorley v. F. Churcher ; claim £2 2s. 3 Mr Sandilands for plaintiff and Mr I Reade for defendant. In this case the ; fee (which was the balance of an account ) for four guineas) was disputed. The evidence of Dr Sorley and F. Ch archer i having been heard judgment was given • for amount claimed, with costs 12s, and i solicitor's fee 265. i D. F. Moriarity v, Jos. Schapleski ; ' claim £2 10s. Mr Richmond for plainj tiff and Mr Reade for defendant. Plaini tiff deposed that he had been engaged at : 25s a week to cook, and after two weeks' work left without giving a week's notice. r Defendant thought he had a right to , receive a week's notice if plaintiff was , going to leave and deducted the second week's wages. Judgment for amonnt f paid into court 255, without costs. R. Somerville v. T. Quinlivan ; claim | £1 5s for the hire of a loose box engaged , by aMr Watt for defendant, who brought „ his horse to the stable. Defendant gave I evidence in Woodville to the effect that lie had not engaged the box, which he alleged was for Mr Campbell, of Wan- - ganui. Judgment for plaintiff with j 1 costs 6s. I W. J. J.
