Sydney, August 20 Mrs Lily Stiles, widow, of Rich tuond, committed suicide on 17t] August by taking a dose of prussi acid. The circumstances of th 6 cas are remarkable In June last, Jame Stiles, the late husband of the de ceased, committed suicide by takinj poison. He was a chemist, and ha< carried on business at Richmond fo: years. Unfortunate speculations am investments had involved him ii financial embarrassment, and at las he was called upon to redeem som< mortgages or yield the possession oi his business to his creditors. Th€ worry of the position was more thai he could bear, and he finally, on Ist June, poisoned kimself. Mrs Stiles at that time was just becoming convalescent after childbirth, and the death of her husband affected her greatly. She was permitted by the creditors of her husband's estate to occupy the premises. Recently, how ever, other arrangements were deter mined upon, and Mrs Stiles, like her deceased husband, found herself unable to face the trouble which threatened her. She became so ill that a friend had to be called in to nurse her, and on the 17th found her in bed dead. On the chair beside the bed was a glass containing a small quantity of prussic acid. The deceased leaves three young children. — Post's correspondent.
