BOROUGH ELECTIONS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAB. Sir, — I noticed in your issue of Saturday an article with reference to the coming annual election of Councillors to the Feilding Borough Council. You echoed the voice of a number of burgesses when you mentioned Mr E. Goodbehere's name j of that of one who should allow himi self to be nominated for the position of Councillor. I would go one better and suggest that he should be asked to allow himself to be nominated for the position of Mayor at the next election. I understand that it is the intention of the present Mayor (Mr W. Carthew) not to seek re-election to that position at the next election, and, therefore, I think it most desirable and would be greatly to the advantage of the Borough to secure Mr Goodbehere's services for another term; Ido not think there is any person in this district (unless it is Mr F. Y. Lethbridge) who is so well acquainted with the management of local bodies as Mr Goodbehere. He has already sat in the Council as Councillor and Mayor, while he has been connected with various road boards for a number of years. I hope some of our leading business men will take tlic matter up and induce Mr Goodbehere to come forward. I might mention that if it were not for private affairs, which prevent me, I would take active steps myself, but I trust someone better able will canvass the Borough with that object. I am, etc., Ratepayer. Feilding, August 27th, 1894.
