Last Saturday wo made reference to tbe matter of appointment of gentlemen resident in I'einherton to the Comniißsioa of the Peace. Mnee then we have been informed that the sottiers intend to hold a meeting at which the delay on tbe part of the Government will bo commented on, and the resolutions then passed will be forwarded to Messrs Pirani and Stevens M.H E.s for presentation to the Minister of Justice. This is undoubtedly a wise course to follow and will we trust have tbe desired result There can be no question that tho Pember ton people have been " long suffering and slow to wrath " under the circumstances. We may say that we nre aware the Members mentioned havo already promised to lend Heir help, but the action of tho jiropcsed meeting; will doubtless strengthen tbtjr lands.
