Wa ituna Notes.
[from oub own corbespondf.nt.l j On Friday last we had a heavy r hailstorm, which made the ground y quite white for some time, and was very severe on the young lambp, and . caused some loss, especially in exposed 1 situations. i Feed has been fairly plentiful on 1 most farms this year, but some of the 1 farmers are now making preparation | for a better supply of winter feed for the future, by getting some of tbeir land broken up for turnips and oats, which sjstem seems to have given great satisfaction to those who have [ tried it. One of our residents, Mr . Godfrey, has gone in extremely for it, i and has got an engine to convert the i oaten struw into chaff, which is I > believe, the first time an engine has ' been owned in the district Tbe damage done by the flood has 1 been gradually repaired on the Valley J road, but the roads which are not ' metalled are badly cut up. t Influenza has been very severe on some people up here, but seems to ) have pretty well cleared off now. Improvements are still going on all over the district. Mr Northcott has r had a very dice residence erected . which is quite ornamental. Mr Wil > Hams is also having a extensive • mansion built on the property he bought from the Manson estate, i Mr Williamsou is having a large 1 wool shed built.
