INSURANCE BATES.

I he Examiner of Friday last congratulates tlin people of VVoodville on having at last secured a promiao from the Underwriters' Association of the reduction of the heavy insurance rates uniler which that town has too long suffered. Some time ago an attompt was made in Feilding to obtain a similar concession, but it failed. Now, however, that Woodville has ro far succeeded, we would recommend that another effort be made here, it is only by persistence that the Insurance Companies can be made to give way. The time is particularly opportune seeing that a number of Members of the House of Representatives are in favor of the Government undertaking fire risks on somewhat the same linos as the Government Life Insurance in order to relieve insurers of a portion of the burdens now resisting on their shouldors.
