The Budget and Insurance Companies.
•- (Per Press Association.) Wellington, August 16. A largely attended meeting of Fire and Mann* Insurance Cempanies doing business in the colony was held this afternoon to discuss the proposals in the Budget that foreign companies should be com* polled to deposit a sum of £20.000. The following resolution was carried. — " That this meeting is of opinion that the principle involved in the suggested legislation regarding deposits by foreign msurancf companies is unsound, and should be rigidly opposed,"
