Singular Divorce Case.
Stdnet, August 7 7. Some peculiar evidence was given in a case in Sydney, in which Sarah Mary Vandycke sought a divorce from her husband, Ferdinand Eugene Vandycke, commercial traveller, on the ground of desertion. According to the petitioner her husband was accustomed to prao tice mesmerism, and obtained from her the transfer of certain lands, valued at £5000, she having no knowledge whatever of having signed the transfer. He had great influence over her, but she could not say definitely that he had mesmerised her. It was stated that a caveat was to be entered against the respondent dealing with these lands, and that he was to be criminally prosecuted in the matter if he re. turned to the colonies: A decree was granted, with costs against the respondent. — Post's correspondents
