The Shearers' Strike in Australia.
o BRUTAL OUTRAGE ON A POLICEMAN. [PEB PBKSB ASSOCIATION."! Brisbane, August 15. A large woolsbed on a station in the Thargomindah district, some 670 miles due west of here, has been destroyed by tire. Incendiarism is expected. This Day. Details show that the constable who was sleeping in a shed at Sbargo Muidah was over-powered by twenty men, several of whom were armed with revolvers. He was blindfolded and gaged until the shed was well alight. He was then tied to a tree, and the men left. Sydney. This Day. A detachment of shearers from New Zealand has been sent out west. The strike is practically terminated in the Mooree district.
