The American Tariff.
fPBH PKBSS ASSOCIATION J London, August 13 The Daily Chronicle's American correspondent says that the delay in coining to an agreement over the Tariff is costing the country £250,000 daily. , , The Daily News correspondent says the free admission of wool is the only victory scored by the Freetraders in the new American tariff. Washington, August 13. At a caucus of the Democratic Party it was decided to recommend the House to adopt the Senate's Tariff. August 14. The House of Representatives has passed a free Sugar Bill. Several Senators stand shares in the profits which the Sugar Trust expect to make out of the Senate Bill. Senator Wilson asserts that under the Senate's Bill the Sugar Trust will make an immediate profit of £8,000,000. The Senate's Tariff Bill will become operative on the 26th instant unless the President's signature is attached at an earlier date.
