An Important Case.

In the Supreme Court the Clutha County Council seek* to recover from the other local bodies of tbe dutrict tboir ahare of the expenses of the recent licen* sing election. The defence is that as there are no fees, consequent on Prohibition, the.local bodies are not liable. For the Council it is contended that as tbe •lection was held the expenses should come out of tbe fees previously received. Judgment was reserved.
