Phenomenal Downpour of Rain.
tPKE PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Nelson. August 9 A severe storm broke over the town at about six o'clock this evening. The lightning was very vivid aad continued a long time, hail and rain accompanying. Within an hour the town was flooded, every street from the hills was converted into a river, and water was flowing through some of the business premises. Horsos had to be got out of their stables, the water being up to their bellies. The downpour was phenomenal, and tho water in some houses was two feet deep.
