The Political Situation.
(Wanganui Chronicle Special). Owing to the unsettled state ol things the Government have decided to go on to-morrow night witli the Lands for Settlement instead of the Financial Debate. The Hon. Mi McKenzie is verj wroth at his young colts, and made himself ill nursing his wrath. He absolutely refuses to give way in the slighest degree. In consequence of the hiatus the Financial debate is postponed until Friday night. I hear that Mr Seddon is threatening the young members who incline to oppose Mr McKenzie with a dissolution, which on the face of it is absurd, and he has been told so by some of them. He stands loyally by Mr McKenrie for the Bill, the whole Bill and nothing but the Bill; but even his own side now think the Council will be justified in greatly amending it. It i<* rumoured that Messrs Keeves and Ward are by no means enamoured of its proposals and would not have been particularly ■orry had Mr McKectie carried out his treat of leaving the benches.
