TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — In the reports and correspondence anent the State School there are poibts that grand out rather amusingly. One doctor certifying: to a boys bands being temporarily crippled and another doctor moving a resolution that it is all Tight. One lawyer objects to the reason or severity of his son's licking, another immediately disagrees and rather approves of his son's catching it, finds it quite exhilirating to have it done and not to be troubled in doing it. So much for the laughable part, for •• Tis their nature too." Now, your correspondent would like to know why is it when "Dame Nature" has benefi ciently provided a portion of the person apparently for the special purpose. Why is it, be asks, should •ither the head be ru'er d or the fingers crippled and sometimes permanently distorted by the senseless beating of a part consisting of joints and small bones, upon the delicate use of which the boy's after life may depend ? Tbe writer "himself has suffered all hiei life from this cause, and »o speaks, not like a lawyer, but feelingly. I am, etc., Reason.
