A match was played at Birmingham yesterday afternoon between the Birmingham Mountaineers and Apiti Angels. The Mountaineers showed better form than their opponents, and consequently hadshghtl. the best of the game. The Apiti team contained one rep. man and several old players, while a number were novices at the game, but they acquitted themselves very creditably The Mountaineers had a rep. man amongst their number and were captained by Mr F, Barlow, while Mr Oldham acted in a like capacity for Apiti. In the first spell F. Barlow secured a try for Birmingham, but the major point was not attained, and he also scored a try in the second spell. Prom this try H Munro placed a goal. These were the only scores and Birminß ham thus won by 8 points to nil. For the winners F. Barlow, T. Ross, Bel), Soles and D. Ros3 were prominent and tor tha losers Oldbatn, Fisher, Shannon and Bennett were conspicuous. The resresentative {match, between Taranaki sni Manawatu takes place on the Showground at Palruerston this afternoon A large number of enthusiasts went down from Feilding to witness the playing
