Stock Markets.
Messrs Abraham and Williams report; A full muster of sheep came forward at Palmerston N. yesterday. Bidding was somewhat slow. Some of the lambs and wethers failed to reach vendors' figures, but the bulk of the other sheep found purchasers. Cattle were in moderate numbers. Female stock receded considerably in value, dairymen declining to purchase where an early prospect of profit is wanting, and this was a noticeable feature in the heifers under offer. Bullocks were well competed for ; this class, though lacking' condition, bad the merit of age and quality. A pure bred Ayrshire cow, the property of Mr Hugh Gillies, brought 14£ guineas. Cattle — Largeframed stores, £4 18s 6d to £5 ; others, £4 11s ; heifers, £3 5s 6d to £4 ; store cows, £2 8s 6d to .£3 43 j small weaners, 22b. Sheep — Store wethers, 10s ; 2 tooth ewes, lls 7d ; small do., 8s 6d ; ewes, mixed ages, 6s 3d to 7s ; culls, 4$ to 4s 3d ; choice wether lambs, 8s 9d ; others, 5s 8d to 6s 9d.
