Acclimatisation Society.

- ay A committee meeting of the Feilding branch of the above Society was held in Mr H. L. Sherwili's office last evening, there being: preient — Messrs Bagnall (in the chair), Sherwill (See* retary), Curtis, W. G. Haybittle, Sandilands, Sharpe, and Dr Johnston. The minutes of the previous meet* ing were read and confirmed. The Secretary read a telegram from Mr Ayson, of the Masterton hatchery, stating that he could send 25,000 trout ova on the 21st instant. A reply had been sent by the Secretary deferring the consignment for another week as owing to a mishap to the hatchery he was not prepared to receive them. With regard to securing some starlings tbe Secretary stated that he had now £8 14s in hand, and there were, several subscriptions yet to come in, and when these were received he would immediately send for 100 birds. He had also received a donation of ona guinea from the Birmingham Farmer's Club; also a subscription of 5s from Mr W. Morton. The Secretary informed the meeting that owing to Mr Bull having lowered the creek on his property from which the water for the hatchery was obtained the supply was at any time likely to be interrupted, and it was necessary to take immediate steps to rectify this. It was probable that the 4 chains of piping leading to the hatchery would have to be lowered about two feet, and this would entail considerable expense. After discussion on tha subject it was resolved, "That Messrs Bagnall, Sharpe and the Secretary be a sub-committtee to take the necessary steps to place the hatchery in working order." It was resolved •• That the Secretary apply at once to the Wellington Acclimatisation Society for the two-thirds of the income coming to this Society, and to state that the money was at once required to make necessary repairs to the hatchery." It was resolved •« Tbat Mr Sharpe have charge of the hatchery," and a vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings.
