TARANAKI V. MANAWATU.
The following team has been chosen to represent Manawatu against Taranaki: — Full-back, Boss ; three-quarters, Richards, Hewitt, Isherwood ; halves, G. Shannon, Duncan ; forwards, Manning, Wishart (wings), Aldsworth, Smith, Rakena, Oldham, Sanson, Matravers, and Rockell ; emergencies, backs : J. Robinson and Rickard ; forward, Prendergast. The above team will far from give satisfaction. Ross is a good man at full, and deserves his place. Richards is the pick of the three-quarters ; he has shown up well all through the season. Hewitt and Isherwood, especially the latter, have no claim whatever for the positions they are given. It is a slight on the Manawatu halves to put in Duncan, who, although a good man, has not yet pla}'ed a match in this Union. G. Shannon is in his right place. Better men than Wishart, Rockell, Rakena and Smith could be fouud for the forward division. The match committee of the Red Stars will meet this evening at Mr F. Bray's at 7.30.
