SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP.

1-EILDING V. MARTON. This match, played at Marton on Saturday, resulted, contrary to expectations, in a draw, neither side scoring. The team put in the field by Marton was a really good one - a regular Rangitikei representative team— and Feilding had to play all they knew how to prevent a score being registered against them. In the early part of the game Feilding had the best of the play, and three times compelled the local team to force down. Richards, after eluding the opposing backs, crossed the Marton line, but owing to the absence of a corner flag he unknowingly placed the ball in touch. It is a great pity that the authorities did not see to this matter before the game commenced. A few blue gum leaves ares not sufficient to guide a player. In the second spell Marton played with splendid combination and made determined efforts to score, keeping Feilding on the defensive for the greater part. Towards the end the Feilding forwards pulled themselves together, and a rush headed by Sanson ended in that player falling over the line with the ball, but not without a Marton forward clinging to him, the result being a scrum Mr G. Elliot, of Palmerston, who officiated as referee, was cheered by both teams and the spectators at the conclusion of the game.
