The New Zealand Loan and Trust Ceinpany have declared a dividend of 9 per cent. The Premier bas promised that the Welsh Disestablishment Bill shall be the first measure taken next session The Conference at Newcastle was attended by representatives of 400,000 English miners. It .vas decided to levy one shilling a man per week to assist the Scotch miners out on strike. June 13. The Government ia considering the Dutch offer to submit the Costa Rica case to arbitration. The Britannia has beaten the Vigilant six times in succession. Paris July 13. The Chamber of Deputies, by a narrow majority, rejected M. Cavagiac's Bill, imposing a progressive Income Tax. The Government afterwards attained a strong vote of confidence. Reports of an Anarchist plot to blow up the Chamber of Deputies have alarmed Paris, and the special guards are increased. An Irish tourist, Mor^lass, was arrested on suspicion of designs to murder the President, but was liberated on the mistake being discovered. A dissolute abbe, named Brumeau, has been sentenced to death for the brutal murder of a cure. He is also suspected of other murders. Buenos Aykes, July 13. The Federal Judge of the Argentine declares that the Extradition Treaty with Great Britain does not apply to Jabez Balfour.
