A Doctor Sues a Police Sergeant

■♦ (PKB PBEB.« ASSOCIATION ) Christchcrch, July 13. At the Lyttelton Court to-day Mr Boetham, S.M., gave judgment in a case brought by a local medical man against the Sergeant of Police to recover a fee for information supplied. It has been the practice of the Police for years to obtain such information from a medical man as might help them in Court cases, but the Medical Association being of opinion that the Police were going beyond their rights, the present case was brought as a test one. Mr Beet ham said it was quite clear it was within the power of medical men to refuse to give such information without payment, but where it had been given for a long period without charge, no charge could be made unless the police were made aware they would have to pay. Judgment was given for defendant.
