In connection with the alleged smallpox case at Eltharu, the symptoms have been described as those of an eruptive disease, with pustules. This description applies equally to chicken-pox, so that until more is known as to the course of the illness, it cannot be certain whether it is really the more serious disease. AYe are pleased to notice that Mr Ovington has started running a passenger cab in Feilding. He will meet every train, and his stand will be at the Railway Station. With moderate charges and a desire to be obliging to his patrons, Mr Oviugton is certain to do well. His advertisement will appear to-morrow. Pirani, M.H.R., stating that when the Roads Estimates are framed the question of putting £'1600 on tho Estimates for the purpose of constructing a bridge over the Oroua river at Apiti will be considered. In their annual report to Parliament, the Railway Commissioners state that the result of the year's work is as follows : Gross earnings, £1,172,792 17s 2d ; working expenses, i.735,358 15s Id; net profit, £437,434 2s Id. Yesterday a hat, which has been identified as belonging to the missing man, was found floating in the river.
