Manawatu County Council.
A meeting of the above Council was held on Wednesday. Present - Crs. Ransom (chairman), Masters, Robinson, Taylor and Strang Cr. Wilson was absent consequent on Parliament being in session and Cr. Hammond was granted leave of absence on account of indisposition. The minutes of the previous meeting having been lead and confirmed inward correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : — Bank of New Zealand Estates Company requesting transfer of sections 113, 120 and 121 Carnarvon, to T. P. Clark ; Harriett Bowater of section 61 Mount Stewart, to J H. Bowater.- Granted. A. Morrison, re culverts on Main Drain road. Overseer to attend to same. John Lumsden, re bad state of Whale line from Foxton road past his property, Overseer to inspect and rectify as far as possible. . . John Nicholas, Campbelltown, asking that more stringent measures be taken to deal with wondering cattle and horses. Letter to be referred to the ranger. From the ranger asking that a paddock be approved of by the Council to remove impounded stock to when pound is over crowded.— Resolved that the Council approves of sections 287 to 297, Sandon, for that purpose. At 2 p m. a special meeting was held and the resolution striking a special rate off in the £ within the Campbelltown Special Rating District, for the purpose of paying charges on loan of £200 for metalling Douglas Square and other streets in the township of Campbelltown, was confirmed and the loan will now be applied for. m Am no communication had been received from Mr Hankins, the County Solicitor, as to agreement re Bale of Tramway it was resolved to hold a special meeting on 20th July to deal with the matter. The Overseer wbb instructed to enlarge small bridge on Kopani road and repair the said road as soon as possible. Resolved, That the Chairman and Crs. Hammond and Masters wait upon the Sfanawatu Road Board at its nest meeting with regard to repairing the Awahuri bridge. . Resolved, That a notice be put in tho papers warning people against removing sand or any other material from any road in the County, without permission of the Council The Clerk reported having written to Messrs Sherwill and C. Bull requesting further information as to the_ area and oeonpiers of the proposed Special District to be rated for the proposed loan of £250 for protecting the bank ot the Oroua river near Feilding As no reply had been received it was thought desirable to awais -farther developments before proceeding with advertising, etc. After passing the usual batch ot accounts the Council adjourned.
