Meeting of Church Members at Kiwitea.

A meeting of members of St. Agnes' Church was held in the Kiwitea Hall last evening, when the attendance was very fair in number. The Rev. A. S. Innes Jqnes presided Mr Levett read the report and balance-sheet, winch showed that there was a credit balance of .£l2, but this was less than the previous year, owing to the extraordinary expenditure — such as surveying or improving the grave yard, The report was considered satisfactory, and, with the balance-sheet, was adopted. A committee was elected as follows: — Messrs Levett, Jacob, Church, Gibson, Barrow, Corry, Hedges, Banks, and Spencer. Mr Levett was appointed treasurer. The proposed scheme for an assistant curate was discussed, and it was pointed out by the chairman that it largely depended on the members of the outlying portions of the parochial district whether the necessary stipend of £150 would be forthcoming or not. The meeting could not pledge itself to anything, although they were satisfied the subscriptions woukj be. increased. The Chairman represented that there must be unanimity amongst members in the outlying portions of the district to give effect to the scheme, as it was these localities which would benefit most from the appointment. He also advised the meeting that he had made a tenative offer to a young man who was well fitted for the work and ready to undertake the responsibility. The matter will be thoroughly discussed at a meeting of members to be held at Feilding on Friday next, when, it is hoped, representatives from all parts of the district will attend. It was decided to continue the system of free seats In St. Agnes' Church, as it had worked successfully in the past. Votes i of thanks were passed to those who had assisted in church work and to the Misses Buchanan, of North field Kqijso, England, who had presented the church with a very handsome alms dish and book markers.
