Masonic Installation.
The installation of Bro. Charles Bray (junior) as Worshipful Master and the investiture of officers, of the Feilding Lodge, No. 41, N.Z.C., which took place last night, was a brilliant affair. The Lodge -was tyled at a few minuses after six o'clock, and after the usual formula the ceremony commenced. The following grand officers were pre^ sent :~Herbert J. Bray proposed the toast ot * The Queen and the Craft,' which was followed by » song 'The Village Blacksmith,' by Bro. Tozer, which was w«ll rendered. The toast of the 'Grand IJpd^'-W ably responded to by Bro. Williams^,, who gave a glowing account of 'the prosperous condition of the GrandL Lodge of New Zealand, both a^s regards the number of Lodges, their continued increase, the absolute vitality of the craft, and the splendid financial position the Grand loilfyK iaicf achieved in the few years it hod b«eit established. He complimented the Feilding Lodge on the excellence of its management, the strict decorum with^ which all Lodge busuie^ was bon* ducted, and he had every confidence that it would continue to maintain its high reputation under the newly invested officers. He spoke in terms of strong feeling; of the pleasure; it must have given P.M. Bro. Charles Bray, senior, to assist in placing his son in the same chair that he himself had filled with so much [ honor and credit as the first Master of the Feilding Lodge. Bro. Williams' address was warmly received. Bro. Matheson having sung 'The Sleeping Catnp ' -in a manner which elicited warm applause, Bro. Hamerton, Past Senior Grand Warden, in responding us a Grand officer, gave an array of tigaraa i wbioh amply testified to the truth of the statements made by Bro. Williams as to the prosperity of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand. He made complimentary reference to the Feilding Lodge and remarked on tbi pleasure it afforded him to see that so many of the Past Masters continued to actively assist in the working of L the Lodge. Bro. Bastings sang ' The Merry Days of Old,' in excellent style. The toast of ,the ' Worshipful Master and his Officers,' was given .by, ,JJrW Williams and duly honored, '^he W.M. made an excellent speech in response on behalf of himself and the newly .invested officers, and concluded by saying he would endeavour to hand over the Lodge to his successor^ in even a more prosperous state than it was at present. Bro. James having contributed a pleasing song, the health of the I.P.M. Bro. Worsfold wasduly.. . honored, Bro. Hartgiil following With :'" a capital song. Bro. Worsfold i^d" that twelve months ago when;he;oj>" cupied the same/ positib]u c Bro. Bray now' held, he thought |i» was the proudest day of his iife^f knew all his work was before him, arid he had tried to do it. His officers had loyally assisted him, and he was much gratified to know that tho brethren had appreciated his effort*. Bro. Goodbehere having sung, ' Nancy v Lee,' the toast of 'The %isitin<^ Brethren', coupled with the naraea 6£ Masters, Masters' and, Bret h3 renqfall constitutions was glve c^ by P.M. Bro. Kirton, who. said it wo* always a pleasure to the Brethren of the Feildiqg Lodge to give yisitor^aT ' hearty welcome on all occasions, - Tlio' Masters in t|<e several Lodges re. sponded in appropriate terms. by Bro. Gregory, and was honored in solemn silence according to ancient custom. A number o£ good songs were rendered during the evening. * Auld Lang Syne ' brought this most enjoyable function to a close. We must not forget to mention that Bro. H. J. Booth sang • Auld Sang Syne,' in Maori, "with great effect. The banquet was catered for by Messrs Franklin-Browne Bros., and considering certain disadvantages tbey labored under, was successful. Mr R. F. Haybittle's. string band afforded valuable help in making the evening a pleasant one.
