The Feilding Star, Oroua & Kiwitea Counties Gazetee. Published Daily. THURSDAY, JULY 5, 1894. A CREAMERY FOR FEILDING.
There is some talk among dairy farmers and others owning small herds of milch cows in and around the town of Feilding, of establishing a creamery in some convenient locality within the limits of the Borough, easily accessible to persons whose grazing lands are situated on the Awahuri road, at Aorangi, and on the Kimbolton road, say as far as Mr Hitchman's farm at the junction of the Feilding-Ashurst road, in fact including a district within a radius of say four or five miles of the Railway Station. We have made some enquiries on the subject from those interested, and three or four dairy farmers have expressed both their ability and their willingness to assist by taking shares and supplying the milk from a hundred cows. As the Cheltenham Dairy Factory is within easy distance, that establishment could be utilised by the Feilding Creamery at comparatively little expense. Besides, it is a going concern, under the control of capable officials and a Directory composed of men who have already exhibited commendable business tact and knowledge, and one in which the farmers as well the general public have the most perfect confidence. It has been suggested that the Chairman of the | Manchester Road Board, Mr F. Y. Lethbridge, who is a practical farmer, invite a conference of dairy farmers for the purpose of discussing this very important subject. It is not intended to encroach on Mr Corpe's factory at Makino. __^ -— ________
