Campbelltown Notes.

(from our own correspondent). Our little town lias been making great strides of late to enlarge it> size. Within the last three months live or six new dwelling houses have been built, two or three of which can hold their own for commodiousness and beauty to any for miles round. The opening lodge meeting which was held in the Temperance Hall on Thursday evening last was a great success. The Hall being packed to over-flowing. Mr V. C. Ransom, presided. A good programme was gone through, contributors being from the members of the Hope of Awahuri, Anchor and Excelsior Lodges. The Rev. Mr Kenll, of Sandon, delivered an instructive address on the evils of alcohol, which was highly commended. Mr J. Reid, Mr S. Right and Mr San&on also delivered short addresseswhich gave the meeting a very pleasing aspect. After the programme was gone through refreshments consisting of coffee, sandwiches, cakes, etc., was given to those present, all of whom were made cordially welcome. Eight persons gave in their names to become members of (he Order and are to be initiated on Thursday next. The banquet to be given by the Oddfellows on Wednesday, of which notice is given, is expected to be a great success. The members of the lodge are doing all in their power to make the. banquet subservient to their taste as turkeys, geese, fowls, sucking pigs on all choice viands are to be given in abundance. ,It is to be hoped the public will give their hearty support to this promising young lodge which has been inaugurated only one year.
