RETUBN? FROM FACTORIES,, Mr Holstcad, geneml" manager- of the butter factories -inNthe^Pahiatua district, supplies the Herald 'with the following returns of the total quantity of milk received at the factories daring the season ending 31st May, 1894^- -
At 3d per gallon paid for it at the factories, this amount represents •an * expenditure of £5501 3s 3d for milk alone, divided amongst 76 suppliers. In* addition to this sum considerable amounts ot money have been expended locally amongst tradesmen, firewood suppliers, and others.

' v The endeavors of the Railway Engineers to "straighten the course of the Pohangina, near the bridge, have been so far successful that there is every indication of the water leaving the bank at the riext freshet. Messrs B. Lyon and Son, of the Pohahgina road, have a bridge-building contract near Cheltenham . Some heavy pieces of maire in connection with it are being cut at the Victoria Mill. The Bunnythorpe Cemetery Trustees are about to get up an entertainment in aid of their funds, aud have offered to assist the Ashurst Cemetery Trustees in turn, if assistance is given them with some of Asburst's famed talent. The Ashurst Cemetery, ou the Feildlhgrbad, is still uufenced. In faot, it remains in thf^ same stato it was in whenthe^Emiwrant and Colouist's Aid Corporation donated it for the purpose of a Cemetery. It is an odd corner, and does not find favor iv the eyes of the ratepayers, or it would have been improved before now.
