London Wool and Produce Markets.

Messrs Jno. Holmes and Co.'s London agents report as follows : — London, May 4. Wool.— At the resumption of business'on the 16th inst., after the Whitsuntide holidays, the room was well and biddings showed considerable spirit thoughout. Continental — buyers, who purchased largely of Merinos" competed keenly, and Yorkshire bought largely of cross-bred produce at steady rates. Pieces sold with keen competition, andiauabs found a steady sale. Prices all round showed no variation from those current last week, except in inferior Merino greasy staple, for which prices ruled somewhat irregularly. New South Wales— Scoured, lUd to 14£ d ; scoured locks and pieces, 7£d to 13d ; greasy, 4d to 9d; greasy locks and pieces, 3{A to Bd. Queensland— Scoured, 8d to 12id ; scoured locks and pieces, 8d to 10id ; greasy, s Jd to 6f d. Victoria —Scoured, 8d to 14d ; scoured locks and pieces. 7d to 13£ d ; greasy, Gd to 10|d; grensy locks and pie es, s£d to B|d. fcouth Australia, lOd to 12d ; scoured locks and pieces, 7d to lOd ; greasy, 4jd to 7|d ; greasy locks and pieces, 4£d to sid ; New Zealand— Greasy,^ 7|d to lOd ; greasy locks and pieces, 6gd to Sd. Tallow. — The result of the sales up to the 11th instant exhibited a fair demand at prices current previously. At to-day's auction 1278 casks of Australian were brought forward, but there was a very limited demand and only 274 casks found buyers. Thirty-five casks fine mutton sold at 26s 6d, or 3d per cwt. decline ; other sorts showed no change. Mutton -Fine, 26/6 to 26/9 per cwt. ; good, 26/- ; mixed to fair, 25/- to 25/6 ; inferior, 24/- to 25/. Beef— Finest, 26/6 ; good to fine, 25/- to 25/9 ; medium, 24/- to 24/9 ; inferior, 19/- to 23/6.
