Lfrom our ow correspondent. J A temperance meeting was held in tt« Temperance Hall yesterday which, was conducted by Mr Bentley, from Feilding. The Rev. Mr Judkine, who had promised to be present, was nnable to attend, The Hall was well filled with young people who listened to Mr Bentley'i address with great attentivenesa. La Grippe has made its appearance and has attacked. several who have had to lay by in consequence. The opening lodge on Thursday night promises to be a success. A good programme is being provided as well as refreshments for the visitors, many of whom are expected to come from the surrounding lodges. The members of Loyal Lodge of Oddfellows intend holding their anniversary banquet in the beginning of next month of which due notice will' be given. Tbe lodge which has been in existence for one tear has made wonderful progress as there are now about forty members belonging to it.
