Wanganui Education Board.
A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Education Board was held yesterday. Present— Messrs Notman (chairman), Baker, Bridge, and Carson. Inspector Bindon was also present. It was reported that there were eleven junior assistauts in the service and twelve pupil teachers, who would be out of their time in July. It was decided to offer employment as pupil teachers, at first-class pay, until suitable opportunities can be found, to George Pnrncll, Annie Silby, Annie Beavan, A. H. Powell G. McCaul, W. J. H. Muir, and E. Barr, who will remain for the timo being in their present schools. The Chairman was asked to write to the Government urging the necessity of a special rate for painting the schools. Necessary repairs at certain schools were ordered to be reported on and attended to. A competent male assistant teacher to be advertised for for the Feilding schoolsalary, from £120 to £'140, with bonus. It was resolved, in the case of certain cadets who were badly reported on that their services be dispensed with : others to be cautioned that they will be similarly dealt with unless future reports show a decided improvement.
