THE FEDERATION SCHEME. THE SHEARERS' DISPUTE. I Per Press Association, j Melbourne, This Daj. The Premier has replied to Sir G. R. Dibbs that he cordially agrees that there is a greater possibility of bringing about a complete federation by two of the most important colonies agreeing to combine certain state departments than by waiting till all the colonies are prepared to enter the union. He leaves it to Sir G. R. Dibbs to make arrangements for a conference. Adklaide, This Day. In the House of Assembly while speaking on the address in reply Sir J. W. Downer said New South Wales throughout had impeded federation and he declared Sir G. R. Dibbs scheme would further delay its accomplishment. Bbisbank, This Day. The Government are about to try the experiment of employing State prisoners on Government work. The General Secretary of the Workers Union has written to the Pastoral ists Association that as no reply has been received to the request for a conference, it has been decided to call upon its members throughout Queensland not to sign a shearing Agreement nntil the present dispute is settled except under the old conditions.
