He made it known that he was getting together a mob of cattle which he would drive to, and offer for sale in Hawke'a Bay The prices beinp offered were very good, aud many | a email settler who had be?n fattening ! a few beasts for market readily sent forward bis cattle in the mob. Bailey sold the stock at good figures at Palmereton North and in Hawke'a Bay, and then decamped. He has been arrested with £900 on bis person, and this in turn will, it is to be hoped, find its way into the possession of the people whotie cattle the scoundrel dis posed of. — Exchange.
