The Railway Rates in Australia.
_* A RE-ADJUSTMENT DESIRED. (PKB PHKBS ASSOCIATION). Sydney, This Day. A return prepared by the Railway Commissioners shows that the Victorian Railway Commissioners have reduced the rates, ranging from 20 to much as 60 per cent., in order to capture tho carriage of the New South Wales border wool clip. It is estimated that 340,000 bales of the wool grown in this colony are carried to the Victorian seaboard annually. M klbourne. This L>av. The Railway Commissioners have received a letter from the New South Wales Commissioners, in which the latter state it is their desire to secure a readjustment of the rates on strictly commercial principles, without political interference. The Victorian Commissioners have replied expressing their willingness to abolish preferential rates and to charge mileage if New South Wales will do the same.
