«. A telegram has been received in Auckland by the Manager of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company informing him that the shareholders in London have freely subscribed. Eesulfc ot the allotment being beyond anticipations. Success pf tbe scheme assured, provided tfee
colonial shareholders do their part. Only waiting result from colonies in order to resume. Shareholders in this colony are reminded that Saturday, the ninth inst., is the last date on which they can avail themselves of the allotment. We have cause to hope that on the day mentioned this colony will have passed the nadir of the depression which has for so long paralysed enterprise aad stagnated industry. With the restoration of confidence in business circles which we have every reason to believe will be the upshot of the adjustment of the affairs of this company, a new era will commence and as the summer months approach nearer and nearer, the depression will disappear and be soon forgotten.
