Licensing Meetings.
TWELVE LICENSES BEFUSED AT CHRISTCHURCH. [.PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CnBisTCHOBCii, .June 4. At a meeting of the Kaiapoi Licensing Committee to day, ten Applications for licenses were granted and seven adjourned, as the Committee are fullj determined to close four houses. This Day. The Licensing Bench refused twelve licenses. Invercakgill, June 4. The Licensing Committee refused hotel licenses to the full extent allowed The licences refused were : — Prince of Wales, Golden Fleece, Strnthern, Stag's Head, Shackles, Union and Supreme Court. Auckland. June 4 The City Committee renewed nil the hotel licensep, the hour of closing being fixed at 10 o'clock. The Court was crowded, those present including ministers and temperance workers, in anticipation of applications being made for in extension of the hour of closing, but no such application was made. Dunedin, June 4 The Police Court where the Licensing Committee sat was crowded to excess today. Some time was spent over the first case, an application for the only houeo at Mornington. This was adjourned until the 12th It was then Announced that in 42 cases in which notice had been given that applications would be opposed an adjournment would be made till the 12th. In 45 cases applications were granted, but only for 10 o'clock licenses, nnd 16 of these intend applying for an extension to 11 o'clock.
