Orlando from Auck« land Sho experienced a boisterous voyage during which a gun broke loose and severely injured one of the crew. This Day. Sir T. Mcllwraith was interviewed on his return from England and America. He appears to be impressed by his American experience with the hopelessuess of the attempt to develop the country satisfactorily under Government Railway management. He declines, however, to reveal a new railway policy till he lays it before his colleagues. There i*, he says, abundance of unemployed capital in London seeking investment sit a very low rate of interest, but it will not be lent as inscribed stock, because the new issue would again demoralise the Colonial stock market. The Eastern Extension Cable Company has informed the Premier they will transmit daily, free of cost, weather telegrams on the New Zealand, Tasmanian, Bataviau, and Singapore cables.
