An Attempt to Escape from Gaol
(fbr press association). New Plymouth, This Day. George Gibbs, who was sentenced to four years' imprisonment for embezzlement from the Singer Sewing Machine Company, made an attempt to escape from gaol by scraping away the cement around the bars of his cell. He was brought up at Court this morning and sentenced to ten days in irons.
