A SUPPLY OF WATER FOR THE TOWN.

TO THB EDITOn OF THE STAR. Sin, — Now that the question of Artesian water supply for Feilding has been so unhappily answered, allow me to suggest another scheme for discussion. What we want is a water supply for the centre of the town, to supply the hotels and as many residences as possible, a central hydrant for the Fire Brigade, and, I may add, a free drink for man and beast, adorned by a fountnin. If a suitable site can be jlpurchased on Lethbridges' Hill I do not think it would require a very large loan to excavate a reservoir and concrete it. By leading races into it frotn the surrounding parts we should be able to accumulate and hold a considerable supply of storm water for the greater part of the year, and it could be cut off and allow people to revert to their tanks in occasional times of excessive drought so as to retain enough for the Fire Brigade and drinking fountain. If the land is not obtained now for the purpose as time goes on {he difficulties will increase and oiake as wish we had done something of the sort. To check malevolent remarks, I will ask you to certify that I am not interested in either the land or the portions of the town that will be benefited, and sign myself Pno Bono Publico. Feiding, May 30th, 1894. [We have pleasure in certifying as requested. — Ed. F.S.
