THOUSANDS OF* PEOPLE LEFT HOMELESS. ENORMOUS DAMAGE DONE. (PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION). New York. May 22. The State of Pennsylvania has been visited by floods of exceptional severity. Houses and bridges have been swept away in all directions, and thousands of people are rendered homeless. The water rose very suddenly, and in many instances people only escaped with their lives by fleeing to higher ground. The damage throughout the State is enormous, and in Williamsford (capital of the country) alone it is estimated at a million dollars.
